In Loving Memory ~

Extraordinary John "Jack" Kootnikoff passed away peacefully at Glenmore Lodge, Kelowna BC. John was born in Ootishenia on October 20, 1939 and raised his family throughout the Kootenay's to ultimately end up in Penticton where he lived to the end.

A man of huge dreams, he constructed the first outdoor drive-in movie theatre in Ootishenia, which opened July 10, 1969; "Sunset Drive Inn'. A full on family affair; Mom cooking in the concession, his kids working the ticket booth, and spending nights in the station wagon. Family and Memories!

He established the community of "Kootenay Cove Trailer Court" and built a home and farm in Blewett. His love of ranching was brought to reality here. Both remain full of life and still thriving today. Neighbours and Memories!

John's writing of poetry got him published. His love of guitar and song, led him to build again in Blewett; "The Country Pumpkin" cabaret, family restaurant, where he took pleasure in being a real life of the party cowboy. Friends and Memories!

John was predeceased by his parents, John and Elizabeth Kootnikoff, of Old Raspberry Village, Castlegar, BC.

He's survived by wife, Hellen. Also by first wife Nancy (Konkin) and their kids Leeanna, Markus, Desiree and Nena; his 10 Grandchildren, and 5 Great-grand boys.

The family would like to thank the Glenmore Lodge doctors, nurses and staff for their tremendous efforts and support in making this transition for John painless and peaceful. At John's request, please raise a shot glass of Gin to remember and toast John's life and legacy. Cheers Dad! See you in the stars Drakon!

I shall look for you among the stars in the night sky on a starry night

Like Sirius you will be shining bright from above

Twinkling in the distance for my eyes to see, you'll be part of the constellation

Your light shining brightly as ever

I don't have to feel lonely knowing you are always there

To shine for me wherever you will be.
