John Kavaloff

July 24, 1965 - September 13, 2023

In Loving Memory ~

With great sadness we announce the loss of John Kavaloff and Valerie Smith of Chilliwack on September 13 , 2023. John was the youngest of 5 children to John and Emma Kavaloff of Blueberry Creek. He was born on July 24, 1965.

Our dad introduced John to motorcycles at a very young age; this sparked his lifelong love for motorbikes. John had a dream of the perfect motorcycle and made it come true with his final purchase of his beloved Harley Davidson.

In high school, he learned to work on cars, which, upon graduation, led to an apprenticeship in auto body. John worked in several auto body shops before he landed at Bannister GM in Chilliwack, B.C. During this time, he met the love of his life, Val Smith. Together, they made their home in Chilliwack until their untimely deaths.

John is survived by his son Jesse Bath (Lisa), grandson Memphis, stepson Travis Finnigan (Joy), grandsons Korey and Kaius, and his sisters Shirley, Emily, Wanda, and Clara (Greg Simard). Also his nephews Jason Conkin (Jill), Robert Conkin( Allysha), and Sean Haggan, and his nieces Vanessa, Talia, and Emma Haggen.

John has been described as a big, gentle soul. He gave the best hugs ever and was always good for a joke or a laugh. He had the biggest and kindest heart. He loved his grandchildren and always lit up and smiled whenever he talked about them. John liked to keep busy and was either tinkering with his bike, working on the house, or doing crafty wood projects; these were mostly for Val.

He was meticulous in his work and was proud of his accomplishments. He enjoyed singing karaoke and had a wonderful singing voice. Our mom taught him to make his own borscht, and he made it with plenty of garlic. John always loved garlic and put it on just about anything, except maybe ice cream.

John and Vals' Memorial Service will be at the Coast Hotel. Address: 45920 1st Ave. in Chilliwack, B.C. On October 28th, beginning at 11:30 to 3 p.m. All are welcome.
